Capistrano Unified School District Special Education Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
Across California, every Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is required to establish a Community Advisory Committee (CAC). CAC is a collaborative partnership of parents, educators, and community members.
The purpose of the CAC is to:
- Provide parent education opportunities, give families an opportunity to communicate with District administrators, connect with other parents, and share resources and support.
- Promote activities on behalf of individuals with exceptional needs.
- Review the local plan which describes the local policies, procedures, and programs that are consistent with state laws, regulations, and policies for special education.
CAC Meetings are open to the public and take place at the District office 33122 Valle Road, San Juan Capistrano CA 92675
Chair: Rachel Sutherland, firstname.lastname@example.org
Meeting Schedule for the 2022-2023 School Year
The CAC is also connected with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Each school has a special education parent representative. The representative attends CAC meetings, reports back to the site’s PTA, helps connect parents of students with special needs, and bridges the gap between the general education and special education community.
Please CLICK HERE to be included on the special education email list this year. This is completely voluntary and is for any family who has a child with an IEP at Arroyo Vista.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
